Worcester – Pablo Martinez Polanco, 65, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after an illness.
Pablo is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cristina Payano; his three children, Melissa Mora of Southbury, CT, Patria Martinez of San Francisco, Dominican Republic and Pablo Abel Martinez of Worcester and 5 grandchildren.
Pablo was born in Gaspar Hernandez, Dominican Republic son of Juan Martinez Valerio and Fermina Polanco. Before moving to the United States Pablo worked for many years as a middle school teacher in the Dominican Republic.
He could often be found sitting quietly and reading a book and he would never say no to the opportunity to eat a sweet treat or to join others on the dance floor. Most of all, Pablo loved being with his family and always looked forward to trips back home.
His funeral will be held on Monday, October 26 at 11 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 9 to 11 AM in the funeral home before the service.
