Obituary

Colin George Reid, Sr., was born in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, on June 14, 1949, to
Clarence Reid and Daphne A. Clark. He peacefully departed this life on October 17, 2026.

As a young child, Colin immigrated to Birmingham, England, with his mother, Daphne. There he advanced in his studies while also helping to look after his younger brothers and sister. Post graduation from Handsworth Technical College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he met and married Phoebelyn Caines. After the birth of their first child, the couple relocated to Massachusetts to further pursue his career as a machinist. After more than 45 years in the industry, Colin retired from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority in 2015.

Prior to its closure, Colin was known for his many years of leadership at the Windsor Cricket Club, where he shared his passion for playing cricket and dominoes. A talented DJ and natural host, he delighted in bringing loved ones together to celebrate life’s special moments. He was also a gifted cook who took great pride in preparing traditional Jamaican dishes for those around him. Above all, Colin will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, generous heart, and deep devotion to those he loved. Colin believed life was meant to be celebrated. A lover of music, he was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and good tunes.

Colin was preceded in death by his mother, Daphne Little (Lloyd-Bert), and his sister, Patricia Turner. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Phoebelyn; children, Julia Reid, Colin Reid, Jr., Kerry Moore (Andre) and Shaun Leoney; grandchildren, Camille Reid, Justin Reid, Jaeda Tavares-Reid, Quintin Tavares-Reid, Raesaun Tavares-Reid, and Riana Tavares-Reid; great-grandson, Julius Kemp-Reid; siblings, Weston Turner, Kenneth Little, Lorna Little, Geoffrey Little, and Brian Little; sister-in-law, Kathrina Caiby; as well as aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
