Richard Albert Hunt of Ojai, California, passed away suddenly on October 12, 2026, at the age of 56. He was born in San Jose, California, in 1970 to Edward A. Hunt and Sharon (Schoenbeck) Hunt.
Rick is survived by his mother, Sharon Schoenbeck; his stepmother, Donna Hunt; his brothers Mark and Tracy Hunt of Ojai, California; Steve and Sarah Hunt of Yorba Linda, California; Dave and Vicki Hunt of Ojai, California; Greg and Tracy Hout of Ojai, California; Henry and Shoshona Schoenbeck of Auburn, California; Mary and Mike Gamble of Center Point, Oregon; and Kris Pantalone of Ojai, California; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Hunt, and his stepfather, Hank A. Schoenbeck.
Rick attended public schools throughout the Ojai Valley. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, primarily as a framer for Valley Builders Construction, his father's company.
Rick kept a small circle of friends, and if you were fortunate enough to be part of that circle, you knew you were loved and protected. He was a truly loving and loyal man to those he cared about, and his family was always his priority.
For the last 14 years of his life, much of Rick's attention and love were devoted to the care of his two dogs, Myla and Pepper. They were a huge part of his life and are now being cared for by a friend.
Rick was a man who lived on his own terms. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on May 22, 2027, at a location to be determined in Ojai, California.
