We mark the end of an era with the passing away of Seetha Lakshmi Krishnan on October 16, 2026. She was 91. She was a quiet pillar of strength, always calm no matter what (or who) raged around her.
She enjoyed music, cooking and word games. She was intense when it came to scrabble, sudoku, wordle and crossword. Her home was always open to family and friends. She knew everyone’s favorite food, be it something as simple as idli or exotic as gulab jamun and she made it for you when you visited. In an age of shared calendars and phone reminders, she had a mental rolodex of everyone’s date of birth, star birthdays, wedding anniversaries and she always wished you simply and warmly. If you wanted to know how someone from an obscure Palakkad village was related to your third cousin, she is who you asked. She would not only be able to explain the relationship, but in most cases also find you a way to contact them. Along with her husband, she was also the stand-in parent for many weddings, giving away the bride and blessing happy couples. Fashions and trends came and went, but quite like Queen Elizabeth, she was timeless and elegant in her ways – always dignified and graceful.
She was a beloved sister, friend, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother who lived a full and joyful life and she will be missed every day. She was a gentle champion of all causes and everyone around her, quietly nudging everyone to their full potential. Her legacy will live on in all of her surviving family and friends, who will strive to live up to her example of fierce gentleness, unwavering faith and stoic hard work.
She is survived by her three children, Ananthalakshmi Chandrasekharapuram, Bhagyalakshmi C Krishnan, and Venkat Chandra, along with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held at 10:30 AM - 12.00 PM on October 23, 2026 at the Linwood Crematory located at 41 John Ward Ave, Haverhill MA 01830.
