Timothy S. Mahoney, 59, of Dracut, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, with his family by his side. Born on November 29, 1966 he was raised in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, he was the son of the late Richard Mahoney and the late Janice (Pape) Mahoney.
Tim spent much of his working life behind the wheel. He drove for Coca-Cola for ten years, delivering beverages throughout the area, and later drove for Gringri Trucking for several years. He also worked detailing cars for Vigeant’s.
Tim was a stand-up guy in every sense of the word. Whenever a friend needed a hand, he was the first to step up and jump in to help. He was a true people person who loved the company of others, and he had a gift for making people laugh. Fun-loving and easygoing, he made friends wherever he went. Tim seemed to know everyone, and he had a buddy in every place and for every need. Whatever someone was looking for, his answer was usually the same: “Let’s go see my buddy.”
Above all, Tim loved his family. He was a man of routine, and his mornings were never complete without a stop at Dunkin’ Donuts and a copy of The Lowell Sun. He was a familiar face at the East End Club and the Pawtucketville Social Club. He enjoyed golf, Boston Sports and duckpin bowling, and he was a member of a league at Collins Bowladrome. Tim also loved playing cards and could spend hours playing 45s with his friends.
Tim is survived by his son, Shawn Mahoney of Dracut; his former wife and good friend, Sandy (Pirello) Duncan; his sisters, Jennifer (Mahoney) Brum and her husband, Joe, and Laura A. (Mahoney) Corcoran; his brother, Patrick Mahoney, and his wife, Martha; Bill Corcoran his brother-in-law; his sister-in-law, Louise Mahoney; his nieces and nephews, Colleen Corcoran, Joseph Corcoran, Richard Mahoney, Olivia Blatus and Cam Brum; his great-nephew, Mason, and great-niece, Nora; and more close friends than could ever be listed here. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Mahoney, his brother, Paul Mahoney, and his niece, Megan Corcoran.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
