Obituary

Emma (Volpe) Centofanti, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, October 10th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91. Born and raised in L'Aquila, Sulmona, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Loretta (DiCenso) Volpe.

Emma enjoyed gardening. She had a natural green thumb. The abundance of flowers and veggies made it easy for her to share with her family, friends and neighbors. Gardening was her form of therapy as well as frequent trips to Mahoney’s Garden Center. Emma was always up to visiting one of the near by casinos where she loved to gamble she played the slots. When she was on a winning streak she would lose track of time and you would have to go looking for her all over.

When Emma was not in her garden, she was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Emma especially loved her great grandchildren. They were her favorites and she loved being their Nina.

Emma was the beloved wife of the late Dino I. Centofanti. She was the devoted mother of Helen Centofanti, and her partner Eddie Antonelli, and Cyndi Ciambelli and her husband Steven. She was the loving Nana of Michele Vita Cassano, and her husband Emilio, Nico and Alisa Vita, Geena Ciambelli, Steven Ciambelli, and his wife Racquel. She was the caring Nina of Luca, Massimo and his twin Mia, and the dear sister of the late Al Volpe.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Emma’s family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St, Medford on Saturday, October 17th, from 10 to 12 PM followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
