William F. Jacinto (73)
William F. “Bill” Jacinto, of Wells, Maine (formerly of Boston and Ashland, MA), passed away following a long and courageous battle with illness.
Bill lived a full and beautiful life marked by kindness, generosity, humor, and an extraordinary ability to make people feel good about themselves. He had quick wit, a sharp sense of sarcasm, and a remarkable instinct for people. He seemed to know almost immediately who was genuine and kind yet was never one to speak badly of others. He preferred laughter, friendship, and seeing the best in people.
Professionally, Bill devoted 32 years to the Department of Health and Human Services, where he served as Budget Director and later worked in IT before retiring. He was also the former co-owner of The BeachFire in Ogunquit, Maine, which he helped establish.
After many years in Massachusetts, he and his partner, Bill Doherty, enjoyed a summer home in Moody, Maine, beginning a lasting connection to the area. Over the years, they owned several properties in Ogunquit and Wells and eventually made southern Maine their year-round home 22 years ago.
Bill loved life, people, and animals. His warmth drew people in, and he had a gift for making others laugh and feel at ease. He will be remembered for his generosity, friendship, humor, and ability to make almost any gathering more fun.
Bill was predeceased by his mother, Theresa St Hilaire. He is survived by his life partner of 34 years, Bill Doherty of Wells, ME; his brother, Joseph Jacinto of Wells, ME; his sister, Carol Barnaby and her husband, Michael, of Haverhill, MA; and many extended family members and friends.
Bill’s legacy is one of love, laughter, friendship, generosity, and a genuine appreciation for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A devoted animal lover, Bill leaves behind his beloved dog, Lily, who brought him great joy. In memory of Bill, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caleb’s Opus, the Southern Maine dog rescue organization from which Bill’s beloved dog, Lily, was adopted. Caleb’s Opus is dedicated to helping homeless, abandoned, abused, and special-needs dogs find safe, loving homes.
