
CHICOPEE – Christopher S. “Chris” Marr, 55, of Danville, Pennsylvania and a former resident of Massachusetts, dear husband of Susan and devoted father of Theresa and Jessica, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, after a brave battle with cancer. Chris was born on November 14, 1970, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a son of Cynthia C. (Pollender) Marr of Haslet, Texas and the late James Marr who was Called Home on March 6, 2016. Chris was a 1988 graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield and a 1993 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He continued his education and received his Master’s Degree in Science from Brandeis University in Waltham in 1995. Chris, a dedicated scientist, worked in the Boston area for 23 years within the pharmaceutical industry before moving to Danville with his family eight years ago to work at Merck’s Cherokee Plant in Riverside, PA. Chris was proud to watch his children embrace Danville, where they thrived in the Downingtown Area School District, excelling in the band and drama programs; Cub Scout Pack 30 and Troop 4077; as well as participating in local dance programs. Chris leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Susan M. (Morrissey) Marr. They were married on April 26, 2008 and were blessed with over 18 years of happiness together. In addition to his mother and wife, he leaves his two cherished daughters, Theresa and Jessica; his dear sister, Susan Godoy and her husband, Michael, of Texas; his dear brother, Matthew Marr and his wife, April, of Massachusetts; his two cherished nephews, Matthew Jr. and Cameron; and three cherished nieces, Natalya, Ava, and Ashlyn; the Morrissey clan and his many loving extended family members, friends, and colleagues. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass.
