Mary Kathleen Butler (Johnson), 78, of Ventura, California passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026.
Mary came to Ventura as a young child from Louisiana and enjoyed growing up in the area. She graduated from Buena High School in. She enjoyed several jobs during her time in Ventura, but spent the majority of her career working for Ventura County for the Welfare Department.
She was known for her work ethic and sweet personality. Mary loved fishing and camping with her family. She loved Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton and she loved to dance. She loved spending time with her friends shopping, taking short trips, and enjoying good food and loved a good margarita. Mary loved her neighbors, her friends, and mostly, Mary loved her family.
Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arnold Butler, her Sister Martha Harrison, her son Gary Butler (Amber), and her daughters Kathy Cook (Bill) and Kristi Boyd (Joe). Mary loved 8 grandchildren; Cody (Taylor), Kyle (Beth), John (Grace), Katie, Joshua, Jordan (Hana), Kayla (Caleb), and Ashleigh. She adored 5 great grandchildren; Levi, Paislee, Skylar, Clayton, and Nolan.
Mary, also known as; Babe, Mom,Nana, Mimi, and Grandma Mary, was a kind and generous lady. If you knew Mary you were loved by her and most likely have received a card from her.
She had a bigger than life smile and loved to laugh. She loved being a mom and grandma, and was the best wife to Arnold. She will be deeply missed.
