Mary R. Gagliardi, 93, formerly of Derry, NH, died Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Windham Terrace in Windham, NH, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mary was born in Gloucester, MA, on November 24, 1932, daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Curro) Monello. She grew up in Syracuse, NY, and, after a life spent as an Air Force wife, ultimately settled in Derry, NH, in 1973, where she remained until moving to Windham Terrace in 2019.
Mary’s family was her greatest pride and joy. She led with kindness, loved deeply, and had a gift for making everyone around her feel special. To know Mary was to love Mary. She and her beloved husband, Carl, shared nearly 70 years of marriage, raising four sons and building a family filled with love, laughter, and memories. Their playful sense of humor was woven into everyday life—from walking through grocery stores and restaurants together while Carl would proudly announce, “Hot stuff coming through, and I don’t mean my wife,” to Mary’s running joke that she married him “for his money.” Mary was never shy about telling the people she loved how beautiful they were, always with her signature assurance that it was because they looked “just like her.” Her kindness, humor, and unconditional love will live on in the family she cherished so deeply.
She is survived by four sons, Carl Gagliardi and his wife Kathi of Ohio, Alan Gagliardi of Hudson, NH, Gary Gagliardi and his wife Kristen of Charlton, MA, and Ronald Gagliardi and his wife Kimberly of Pawleys Island, SC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carl Gagliardi, in 2021, as well as her brother and five sisters.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
