LEWISTON: Joan Santomango Goulette, age 84, a longtime resident of Lewiston, passed away peacefully at Nevins Hospice House, Methuen, MA surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2026.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Joan was the devoted wife of Marcel for 64 years. He survives her.
She was born in Melrose, MA and her family moved to Maine when she was in elementary school, finally settling in Lewiston as a teenager. She raised her family in Lewiston. After retirement, she spent her time between Brettuns Pond in Livermore (and later Bear Pond – Turner) and Florida.
Among her many interests, Joni enjoyed playing tennis in her earlier years and, more recently, golf. Joan and Marcel spent their winters in Florida, where they enjoyed playing many rounds of golf together. She was very proud to be a member of the Hole-in-One Club. Nothing brought her more joy than cooking an Italian dinner (especially her lasagna) for her family and friends and teaching her grandchildren how to play cards.
In addition to her husband, Marcel, Joan is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife, Kathleen, and Christopher and his wife, Joanne; and her three grandchildren, Liam, Owen, and Galen, who affectionately called her “Noni.”
She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Rose Santomango, and her sisters, Marie and Toni.
