Born November 10, 1950 to Charles and Eleanor Cotton. He graduated from Boston Technical High School and later earned a degree from Dean College. He built a career with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, starting at Walpole State Prison and retiring at the rank of Lieutenant from Boston Pre-Release Center. After retirement, he continued working for Elite Protective Services, where he knew everyone along his patrol.
Charlie was tremendously proud of the family he and Maryanne built. Most of his free time was spent bragging about his children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen. Vacation Charlie was a family favorite – whether on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey or poolside in Orlando. While on vacation, he enjoyed the warm sun, a cold beverage, and a good book.
Charlie was known for his legendary mustache, questionable fashion sense, and endless dad jokes. He often made his family laugh whether it was with his quick wit or newfound love of sending reels.
Charlie was very proud to be a member of the Honor Guard for the Emerald Society of the Boston Police. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to their scholarship fund. Checks payable to the Emerald Society of BPD can be mailed to 10 Birch Street Roslindale, MA 02131. Please note Charlie Cotton in the memo.
