Obituary

Kallmeyer, David Anthony

BOSTON - David Anthony Kallmeyer, 64, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 17, 2026. David was a kind, funny, loyal and generous man who was loved by many. He was a devoted brother, uncle, great uncle and friend.

David was born in Albany, NY on August 23, 1962, the son of Mary (Beebe) Kallmeyer and August William Kallmeyer. He attended local schools and after graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. His service took him to many ports in the world, with most of his time spent on the USS Capodanno. His love of music earned him the role of DJ while sailing the seas. During his years of service, his ship paid a call to Albany and his proud family waved as he and his shipmates, dressed in their whites, stood elbow to elbow on deck as they sailed into port. He was pleased to take his family aboard to tour the vessel and to acquaint his shipmates with the best of Albany attractions.

After the Navy, David graduated from the University at Buffalo and completed graduate work in engineering at UMass Lowell. He was employed first as an engineer with Bruce Electronics where he worked in Haifa, Israel and Catania, Sicily. Then for over two decades he worked at Raytheon in Boston.

A youthful athlete, David enjoyed soccer, skiing and basketball. His pickup games at Woodlawn with the local gang were legend. There were many come from behind games where only the enthusiasm of teammates and hearts of lions propelled them into the winners circle. Skiing took him to New England peaks, the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Tahoe. In later life a perfect day was a win by the Red Sox, Bruins or Patriots all of whom he would cheer on loudly and devotedly. Recently his love of soccer was rekindled by watching the World Cup matches this summer.

In earlier years he enjoyed his first home in Virginia Beach and travels to Spain, Morocco, Israel, and other destinations. He loved visiting his sister in Houston and spending time in his condo in Tamarac, Florida. San Francisco and New Orleans were also among his happy places.

David will be missed by his siblings Maureen (Howard) Daffner, Margaret Kallmeyer, and Michael Kallmeyer, his beloved nieces Julia Geer and Allison (William) Parks and his grand niece Finley Parks who frequently helped him with tee shirt designs for family reunions and grand nephew George Parks who he recently taught to ride a bicycle.

Dogs were always part of David’s life. From his early pets Bomber and Jato to later dogs Pockets, PJ, Dallas and Tootsie, David always enjoyed the loving enthusiasm of canines. When he visited the family cottage at Higgins Beach, Maine, his favorite pastime was walking on the beach when it was filled with dogs chasing balls and looking for treats.

In a final gesture of love to fellow humans, David was an organ donor. His services will be at a later time in Scarborough, Maine.
