Obituary

Billie Lee (Angus) Maloney, 78, of Chester, NH, passed away peacefully in her home with her husband by her side on Sunday September 27, 2026. She was born on July 18, 1948, in San Gabriel, CA, a daughter of the late Leroy and Alice (Weed) Angus.

Billie was born in California, but her parents decided early on to move the family back to Connecticut. There, Billie attended school and graduated from Stratford High School. She then entered Bridgeport Hospital’s nursing program, became a Registered Nurse, and later advanced to Head Nurse. She ended her career as a Charge Nurse on a med-surgical unit for the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH.

In 1981, she married her husband, Denis, and together they moved to Chester, where they raised their three children. She was very active in Chester, first as a Brownie leader and later as a Girl Scout leader. She also served as a member of the Chester Zoning Board for 35 years, as well as other town organizations.

Billie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was fond of her patio flowers, hummingbirds, crossword puzzles, trips to the ocean, and watching her daughter and granddaughter ride horses in show jumping. She also enjoyed warmly decorating the family home for holidays, spooking Chester residents at Halloween, and handing out full-sized candy bars. She was a mother to everyone who crossed her path and cared for them as if they were her own.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Denis Maloney; son, Jesse Maloney; two daughters, Sarah Maloney and Catherine Baer; and granddaughter, Norah Baer; nieces, Alicia and Jennifer; grandnieces, Aleea and Bonnie, and grandnephew, Sean. In addition to her parents, Billie was predeceased by her son Timothy and her sister Mary Berky.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow in the Great Hill Cemetery, Route 121A, Chester.
