Obituary

Robert Joseph "Bob" Fitzpatrick, 69, of Dracut, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. "Dotty" (Carlsen) Fitzpatrick. Bob and Dotty were together for more than 40 years and had been married for over 20 of them.

Born in Lowell on March 20, 1957, Bob was the son of the late Charles Fitzpatrick and the late Mary (Maher) Fitzpatrick. He was raised and educated in Lowell's Sacred Heart neighborhood and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Bob spent his whole working life as a roofer. For more than 30 years he was a commercial roofing foreman, and his work took him up and down the East Coast. He was a hard worker who took pride in doing the job right.

Bob was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was a true teddy bear and a child at heart, and he fit right in with people of any age, from the youngest kids in the family to the oldest friends at the table. He enjoyed his time at the Whipple Cafe and the Bunting Club, loved a day of deep sea fishing, and could often be found playing his computer games. He also liked trying his luck, whether at Foxwoods, the Nash, or on trips to Las Vegas.

Most of all, Bob loved his family. Some of his happiest times were spent with them at the family camps, at the house on Cobbett's Pond and the beach house at Salisbury, where he made memories over the years that his loved ones will always treasure.

Besides his wife, Dotty, Bob is survived by his brothers, Charles Fitzpatrick and his wife, Marylou (Milinazzo) Fitzpatrick, and John Fitzpatrick, all of Lowell; and his godson, Chuck Fitzpatrick of Lowell. He is also survived by his in-laws, whom he affectionately called his "outlaws." They include his sisters-in-law, Joan Carlsen of Ohio and Trish Conway and her husband, Greg, of Meredith, NH; and his brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Carlsen and his wife, Cheryl, of Massachusetts, Raymond Carlsen Jr. of Ohio, James Carlsen of Colorado and Anthony Carlsen of Ohio. He also leaves his goddaughter, Kayleigh Conway, and her husband, Steve Baillargeon, and their daughter, his grandniece, Emma, all of Hampstead, NH; and his godson, Justin Conway of Meredith, NH. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Susan Theriault, Cynthia Tighe and Dorothy Balboni, and by Dottie's parents, Raymond Carlsen and Joan Carlsen.
