Obituary

STANDISH- Albert Carmine Cardente Jr., 85, of Standish, Maine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, surrounded by his family.
Albert was born on February 12, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Albert Cardente Sr. and Lillian Carolina Cardente (Giordano).
A proud Navy veteran, Albert served aboard the USS Forrest Sherman. In 1975, he and his business partner, Fred Hill, founded A&M Transmission. The business began in a small, two-bay garage in Augusta, Maine, and later moved to South Portland, where it flourished for 25 years before Albert retired. Albert was a strong supporter of local sports programs in South Portland and generously donated to many community athletic activities, including sponsoring Legion Baseball. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed playing tennis, singing karaoke, collecting sports memorabilia, cooking, and spending time with his family. He especially looked forward to spending his winters in Florida, where he enjoyed playing tennis, visiting the beaches, and having fun at the casinos.
He is survived by his children, Albert III, Laurie, and Thomas; six grandchildren; his brother, John; and his sisters, Linda and Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lori and Lynn; his brothers, Frankie, Jimmy, and Bobby; and his sisters, Gina and Phyllis.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
