Modesto Delgado Hurtado “Moe” (94 years) passed away on September 19 in Ventura. Moe was born in Santa Paula to Miguel and Theresa Hurtado on June 6, 1932. He went to Santa Paula High School and graduated in 1951. He continued his education and went to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he majored in electrical engineering. He served in the US Army during Korea in Easy Company, 63rd Infantry Regiment, 6th Infantry Division. After the war he worked as an electrical engineer at Pt Mugu Naval Weapons Station for over 30 years, plus 15 years at UC Santa Barbara. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and watching the Dodgers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at our Lady of Assumption Church in the 1980’s.
Moe is survived by his loving wife Emma of 62 years, their three sons Mark, Eric and Amy, Rick and Debi, grandchildren Amber and Robert, Matthew and Crystal, Cassie, Samantha, Emily, Colton, Gaby, Bentley, Timothy, Christina and Tatiana. Great Grandchildren Sophia, Scarlett, Ian, Serena, Luke, Sadie, Sawyer, Emory, Kian, Annalise and Katalina; his brother Henry and sister Rachel.
He is preceded in death by his parents Miguel and Theresa, and his brothers and sisters Jesse, Miguel, Consuelo, Connie, Lupe, Ben and Terry.
Viewing and Rosary will be on October 8th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION located at 15 Teloma Dr, Ventura. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura on October 9th at 10:30 AM by Father Vega located at 3175 Telegraph Rd, Ventura. Internment at the Conejo Mountain Memorial Park at 12:00 PM, located at 2052 Howard Rd, Camarillo.
