Wayne Edward Gillespie

Wayne Edward Gillespie, 92, of Anderson, passed away on September 27, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson.
He was born on July 7, 1934 in Anderson, the son of Earl and Alma (Carpenter) Gillespie. Wayne was a graduate of Anderson High School and was employed by Delco Remy Division of General Motors, retiring in 1993. He also operated a family farm and worked in landscaping. Wayne was a member of the NRA and had attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church as a child. He enjoyed snowmobiling, waterskiing, hunting, fishing, camping, and horseback riding and motorcycles over his lifetime. He loved the outdoors and being in nature. He loved his animals, Boston Terriers.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Myers Gillespie, whom he married September 24, 1982; Children, Melissa Westlake, and Roger Gillespie; step-children Sondra (Randy) Jones, Sharlene Padgett, Suzette (Derek) Brown, Leonard (Angie) Padgett, lloyd Padgett, Larry Padgett; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 2PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Philip C. Rogers. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
