Valerie A. (Thompson) Foley, 54, of Norton died on Monday September 25, 2006 at the Emerald Court Care Center in Norwood, MA. She was the beloved wife of John “Steve” Foley, Jr. to whom she was wed to on January 7, 1973
Born in Medfield, MA on September 14, 1952 she was a loving daughter of Barbara M. (Cahill) Thompson of Norwood and the late William M. Thompson.
She was educated in Norwood schools and was a 1970 graduate of Norwood High School. She went on to graduate from the Career Academy in Boston; where she received a certificate in Broadcasting and her FCC License. She was the first female Disc Jockey in the State of New Hampshire and had worked at WDNH Radio in Dover, New Hampshire.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, she had also taught CCD for 10 years. Besides spending time with her loving family she was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Red Sox and College Basketball. She was an avid reader and her family will always remember the enjoyment she received from Sun Worshipping. She had lived in Norton for the past 21 years and was formerly of Norwood.
In addition to her beloved husband of over 33 years and her loving mother she is survived by her devoted children Michael John Foley of Attleboro, Stephanie Ann Foley of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and William Mark Foley of Norton. Her dear sister and brothers; Barbara J. McAulay-Levesque of Norwood, Kevin F. Thompson of Manchester, Conn., Mark W. Thompson of Norwood and Joseph J. Thompson of Hopkinton. Also survived by her uncle; John Cahill of Walpole, her aunt; Margaret Cahill of Medfield and her many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday September 29th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 28th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Valerie’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
