LACONIA ---- Laura Louise Chase, 85, of Court Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by
the loving staff she affectionately called “her people.”.
Laura was born on May 29, 1941, in Bristol, NH, the daughter of the late Joseph Cabral and Marjorie (Gray) Cabral.
Laura leaves behind her son, Warren Chase, and his wife Ana; daughter, Wanda Gilson and her husband William; grandchildren, Angela and Jacob Chase, Alana and Erica Gilson, Agatha Claire and Anne Catherine Tan, and Andrea Celine Tan-Cua; and great- grandchildren, Chase, Ethan and Elias Davis and Rowan Ginley; as well as nieces,
nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Laramie, son Wayne Chase, sisters Joan French and Mary Lou Kelly, and step-sister Dolly McLeod.
In early childhood, Laura moved frequently but lived for several years in Cambridge, MA, with her father, where she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School which provided her with a solid education and helped form her faith which carried her through her life. For the last four years of schooling, she attended Bristol High School, graduating in 1959.
Soon after, Laura met her husband to be, and they married the same year. As she had always desired, she became a mother and raised three children and then God blessed her with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the years, Laura always put her family’s needs above her own. These sacrifices included caring for an aunt with dementia, her husband with emphysema for over 20 years, and being a full-time babysitter for three of her grandchildren.
Laura was also a great friend, making new ones everywhere she went. She acquired many from IPC and Cricenti’s Market in Bristol, and Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor. Numerous friendships continued to her last day. The reason she was loved by so many is that she treated people with great kindness and respect. She was generous and found the good in everyone, which stemmed from her great love of Jesus. A lifelong Catholic, Laura attended St. Timothy’s Parish in Bristol and in her last years was a parishioner of St. André Bessette in Laconia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 11:00 am, on at St. André Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia, NH. Live-stream and recording of the Mass will be available at www.standrebessette.org.
A reception will follow in the parish hall following the Mass.
A private burial will take place at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
