Daniel William O'Brien, aged 74, passed away on August 20, 2026, in Davenport, Florida. Born on September 26, 1951, in Boston. Danny was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend. His life was marked by a profound dedication to his family, career, and a loving, kind and humorous personality that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Danny graduated from Don Bosco High School and furthered his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology. His professional life in the construction industry spanned 51 years, starting as a bricklayer and contractor, eventually becoming a construction scheduler.
His commitment to service was also evident in his military career, where he served in the Army for three years.
A man of many interests, Danny enjoyed playing the guitar and reading, which were sources of great pleasure and relaxation for him. He was known for his kind, loving nature and a laugh that could light up any room.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Felise Freeley-O'Brien; daughter, Emily O'Brien; son-in-law, Michael Stanis; sisters, Kathleen Glynn (John), Margaret Alteri (David), and Patricia DeRobbio; in-laws, Dorothy and Lenny Bean, Kevin and Joann Freeley, Susan and Chris Carlotto, Marian and Wayne Wright; and many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his daughter, Margret O'Brien; mother, Rita Ring; and father, William O'Brien.
A service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held at Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury, MA, on October 10, 2026. Visiting hours begin at 10:00 AM followed by service at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity in Danny’s memory, honoring his lifelong dedication to building and service to others.
