Donald L. Paiva, age 81, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Pauline A. (Clement) Paiva, to whom he was wed for thirty-eight years.
Born in Mansfield, MA on June 21, 1945, he was a loving son of the late Joseph W. Paiva and the late Joyce E. (Ryder) Paiva.
Donald grew up in Mansfield and was a member of the Mansfield High School Class of 1963. During the time of the Vietnam Era, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Following nearly eight years of faithful service, he was honorably discharged on November 2, 1970 bearing the rank of FTM2.
Prior to retiring, Donald worked as a computer technician for Bank of America. He was previously employed as a sales representative at the former Berton & Dickinson. In his retirement years, he very-much enjoyed looking out for the safty of children as a crossing guard for the Mansfield School System.
A resident of Mansfield for most of his life, Don was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield. He treasured the times spent and memories created with his adoring family and was well-known to be an avid reader. Don was an ardent fan of the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox and also enjoyed watching and cheering on the WNBA.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Kimberly A. Paiva, Donald P. Paiva of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Jason M. Armstrong and his wife Andrea of Alabama, John R. Armstrong and his wife Alexandra of Mansfield and Kelly A. Brown and her husband Lynn of North Carolina. He was the dear brother of Meredith J. Jones and her husband Dana of New Hampshire, Linda J. Kincaid of Mansfield and William J. Paiva, Sr. of North Attleboro. His surviving loved one’s also include his cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, September 28th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29th at 11:00 A.M. in saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will take place privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Donald’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Brockton VA Medical Center, 940 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
