Gerald P. Crowley, age 81, a resident of Tewksbury for 58 years, formerly of Medford, passed away at home on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
He was the beloved husband of Rosemarie T. (Spinale) Crowley, who passed away on July 26, 2026.
Born in Arlington on January 8, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Crowley and the late Eleanor M. (Barry) (Crowley) Harrington.
Mr. Crowley was raised in Medford and attended Medford Public Schools.
He was employed as an electrical engineer for the General Radio Company (Genrad) and later founded LCX Software Company, which he operated until his retirement.
Jerry found joy in the simple things in life, especially spending time outdoors with a fishing rod in hand. He loved being out on the water in his boat, fishing off Plum Island, and looked forward to joining his SLBMC friends for their fishing and camping weekends. He also had a lifelong fascination with motorized transportation—whether trains, planes, or automobiles—and had a particular passion for aviation. He spent countless hours on Flight Simulator, learning the nuances of flying and aviation. As a member of the Middlesex County RC Flyers, Jerry was also a model airplane instructor, happily sharing his knowledge with anyone interested in learning how to build and fly model planes. As a member of several Rod & Gun Clubs, Jerry enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of the pistol league, as well as many weekends spent hunting with his sons. His outdoor adventures created special memories and strengthened the bond he shared with his family. Whether he was fishing, hunting, talking about airplanes, attending car shows or enjoying the thrill of flight, Jerry's hobbies reflected his curiosity, adventurous spirit, and appreciation for the things that brought him happiness.
Family members include three children, Debra A. Hurley and her husband Daniel Brian of York, ME, Richard S. Crowley and his wife Karen, of Salem, NH and the late Joseph P. Crowley and his late wife Karen: his grandchildren, Allyson Crowley, Jacquie Giddinge and her husband Chris, Nicole Russell and her husband Robert, Kayla Coughlin and her husband Sean, Timothy Hurley and Justin Crowley: his great grandchildren, Nora and Roman Russell, Cameron and Dylan Giddinge, and McKenna, Kinsley and Shealeigh Coughlin.
He was the brother of the late Joseph J. Crowley, Jr. Virginia A. McNulty and Patricia Heywood.
He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours are Wednesday, September 23rd, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, September 24th, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Services will conclude with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
