Kelly Ann Phillips, age 53, of Lowell, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
Born in Lowell on April 27, 1973, she was the daughter of the late Sylvio J. Phillips and Laura (Garvey) Phillips, who survives her and lives in Lowell. Kelly was a graduate of the Lowell public schools.
Kelly spent her working life in service to others. She was a bus driver for many years transporting countless adults with special needs, a calling that suited her patience and her generous nature. Around the holidays, she made care packages for those less fortunate, never looking for recognition and never expecting anything in return. She had a huge heart and always put others before herself.
She was funny, and she told it exactly how it was, straight to the point, whether you liked it or not. Those who loved her counted that honesty among her finest qualities. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she lived for them.
She is survived by her four children, Melanie Provost and her husband, Timothy, of Lowell, Johnathan Sanchez and his wife, Caitlin, of Lowell, Anthony Phillips of Lowell, and Adam Phillips and his longtime partner, Brenda Ferreira, of Lowell; her seven grandchildren, Delilah, Avalee, Saint, Leonidas, Adonis, Artrayaus, and a granddaughter expected at the end of January; her mother, Laura (Garvey) Phillips of Lowell; her siblings, Brian Phillips of Maine, Stacy Phillips of Lowell, Tammy Phillips of Lowell, and Scott Phillips of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her grandfather, the late Sylvio J. LaMarche.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
