Worcester – Irena (Kurkiewicz) Snopkowski, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
Irena was married to the late Antoni Snopkowski, who died in 2014. She is survived by a son, Steven Snopkowski and his wife, Colleen of South Yarmouth; two daughters, Anna Karwan of Burlington and Donna Snopkowski of Worcester; her sister, Sofia Antas of Spencer; three grandchildren, Samantha, Abigail and Nicholas and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Snopkowski was born in Poland, daughter of the late Franciszek and Bronislawa (Pszenna) Kurkiewicz and is also predeceased by her brother, Franciszek Kurkiewicz and sisters, Elzbieta Kurkiewicz, Maria Lech and Filomena Olszewska.
Irena moved to the United States from Poland in 1966 and wore many hats throughout her life. She worked numerous jobs, built a business, and faced every challenge with courage and perseverance. Above all, her hard work reflected her deep love for her family and her desire to provide for those she cherished. She was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church where she was a member of the Women’s Guild.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Burial alongside her husband will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home before her funeral mass.
