Alison Gregory Larsen, age 63, passed away peacefully at her home in Eliot, Maine, on August 16, 2026 following a long and courageous six-year battle with cancer.
Known affectionately as Allie, she was the loving wife of her devoted husband, Eric Von Larsen. Allie and Eric met while they were both working in Colorado. They shared a love of the outdoors and spent many happy years skiing, cross-country skiing, hiking, and exploring the mountains where Eric grew up.
Growing up in New England, however, Allie’s true happy place was always by the ocean. She convinced Eric to move back East, and with the blessing of his Colorado employer to work remotely, they eventually settled near the coast in York, Maine. There, they created a life they loved—enjoying the beaches in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Allie grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts. After high school, she attended McGill University, where she excelled in languages. She had an extraordinary gift for languages and spoke Spanish, Catalan, French, and Italian fluently. Her intelligence, curiosity, and love of learning were defining parts of who she was. She later began her professional career in resort marketing in the mountains of Colorado.
Allie was the youngest of three children. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Eric; her mother, Carol Haynes Nelson of Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts; her brother, David Gregory; her dear sister, Carrie Gregory; nephews Ryan Gregory and Matthew Gregory; niece Michaela Gregory; Eric’s sister, Lynn Malsby; and niece Kate Malsby.
Allie also leaves behind her beloved dog, Lela, who was her loyal companion and comfort dog. Dogs held a special place in Allie’s heart. Throughout their life together, Allie and Eric were fortunate to share their home with exceptional rescue dogs, each of whom brought love and companionship into their lives.
She was predeceased by her loving grandparents, Elizabeth and George A. Haynes, G. Arnold Haynes, her uncle G. Arnold Haynes and aunt Carol C. Haynes, and Richard and Cecelia Larsen.
Allie will be remembered for her wit, wisdom, sense of humor, her adventurous spirit, her love of the sea and beautiful blue eyes.
Above all, Allie will be remembered for the love she shared with Eric and for the life they built together—between the mountains and the sea, surrounded by family, friends, and their beloved dogs.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved. “Que’ se duerma bien” (May you sleep well). Funeral services will be private.
