WEST NEWFIELD- Dustan Joseph Moreau, 36, passed away in a motorcycle accident on September 14, 2026.
How do you sum up the life of someone you have loved so dearly since the day they were born in just a few short paragraphs? It’s impossible, because no words could ever fully capture who Dustan was, all the memories he gave us, or how deeply he was loved. These words can offer only a small glimpse into his life and the person we will always remember.
Dustan was born on August 13, 1990, the son of Doreen Mockus and Peter Moreau. As a child, he was happy, energetic, and always ready for an adventure. Some of his happiest childhood memories were spent hornpout fishing on Saturday nights with his father, sister, brother, and cousins at his Uncle Gary’s house or playing kick-the-can with his sister and other cousins.
Dustan loved anything involving the outdoors and four-wheelers and snowmobiles. As he grew older, he developed a passion for racing at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, where he proudly raced as number 51. He also enjoyed working on motors and had a natural love for anything mechanical.
Above all, Dustan was the father of five children whom he leaves behind: Olivia and Julian Moreau of Dayton, Maine; Lilly Moreau of North Waterboro, Maine; and Greyson and Paisley Moreau. His children loved him dearly and will forever carry a part of him with them.
Dustan is also survived by his mother, Doreen Mockus, and her husband, Clay Mockus, of St. Agatha, Maine; his father, Peter Moreau, of Newfield, Maine; his sister, Shawna McLeese, and her husband, Ed McLeese, of Newfield, Maine; his brother, Cameron Moreau, of Newfield, Maine; his step-brother, Christopher Perry and his wife, Katie Perry, of Waterboro, Maine; his step-sister, Emma Mockus, of Saint Agatha, Maine; his Aunt and Uncle, Laura and David Moreau, of East Waterboro, Maine; his maternal grandmother, Alice Deschaine, of Lyman, Maine; his paternal grandfather, Richard Moreau, of Largo, Florida; and Hillary Martel, mother to Olivia and Julian. We will forever keep his spirit and memory alive within us all, and will always love him beyond measure.
He also leaves behind his five cousins, Zoe Moreau, Marissa Valliere, Calvin Moreau, Kelcey Moreau, and Caleb Moreau. We hope they will always hold their many childhood adventures and the special memories they shared with Dustan close to their hearts. He also leaves behind his nephews Brayden Moreau and Eli Moreau, may they always know his Uncle Dustan loved them dearly.

In Dustan’s memory, his family asks anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, or simply feeling trapped within their own thoughts to please remember that they are not alone. Help is available, and there is always someone willing to listen. Please reach out, even when it feels difficult, because your life matters and you are deeply loved.
Dustan’s life was not defined by his struggles. He will be remembered as the happy and energetic little boy who loved fishing, the young man who found joy in racing and working on motors, and the father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend whose life mattered deeply and the thought of him no longer with us is a pain too deep to put into words.
His passing is also a painful reminder that life is fragile and fleeting, and that none of us truly knows the battles another person is fighting. Words spoken, written, or posted in anger—especially those intended to shame, humiliate, or wound—can leave scars that cannot be erased. Once someone is gone, those words cannot be taken back. May Dustan’s memory remind us to choose compassion over cruelty, understanding over judgment, and grace over vengeance. May we never wait until it is too late to treat one another with kindness and humanity.
A green burial graveside service will be held on Friday Oct. 2, at 11 AM at the Cedar Brook Burial Ground, Boothby Road, Limington.
