Anita M. (Vasquez) Oberlander, age 89, of Rehoboth, formerly of Mansfield, passed away in the comfort of her home, on Sunday, September 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Robert H. Oberlander, to whom she was wed for sixty-eight years.
Born in Revere, MA on January 22, 1937, she was a loving daughter of the late James and Mary (Beatrice) Vasquez.
Anita grew up in East Boston and Randolph and later moved to Norwood, where she met her future husband Bob and was a graduate of Norwood High School. She raised her family in Mansfield and previously had worked as an administrative assistant in real estate field.
Anitsa resided in Rehoboth for the past two years and along with her husband, accomplished their lifetime goal of building a beautiful house on a hill overlooking the ocean, in the historic coastal town of Bristol, Maine. The years spent in Maine were considered the best years of her life.
While living in Maine, Anita made close friendships and enjoyed volunteering at the local hospital for twelve years. In 2018, Mrs. Oberlander was honored for her faithful service and appeared on the cover and in an article of the Lincoln Health Maine Health Annual Report.
When not spending time with her adoring family, Anita liked nothing more than to roll up her sleeves and feeling the earth of nature glide through hands while she enjoyed gardening. Anita will always be remembered for many things, especially the way in which she graciously decorated her homes with beauty.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her devoted children, Michael S. Oberlander of Rehoboth and his significant other Tina Butler of Buzzards Bay, Deirdre M. Mulkern and her husband H. Larry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and David A. Oberlander and his wife Beth of Mansfield. She was the cherished grandmother of Ashley Mulkern, James Mulkern, Juliane Ambrosi and her husband Jeffrey, Cal Oberlander and the late Henry Oberlander. She was the treasured great grandmother of Amila Ambrosi and Summer Ambrosi. She was the dear sister of the late Elena.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours have been omitted.
