LIMERICK- Coleen Rae (Smith) Candelmo, age 77, wife of Edward, passed away peacefully at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough on Friday, September 11, 2026, after a long, hard, courageous battle with liver disease.
Coleen was born on November 7, 1948, in South Hiram, Maine, the only daughter of the late Charles H. Smith and Eva M (Durgin) Smith. She grew up in Porter Maine and attended and graduated from Porter High School, class of 1967, where she was always proud to be Prom Queen.
She lived most her adult life in the Limington and Limerick area.
She spent her early adult years working at the Limerick Shoe Shop and then being a homemaker and taking care of her children, the house and many other children around town. She was always known to have the cleanest house around.
Some other adventures she did throughout her years were running a small restaurant in Limerick known as "Mammys", owned and operated a video store and food truck in Limington and spent many years providing Karaoke and DJ services all around at many functions. "Co-Ed Karaoke and DJ".
Some of her absolute favorite things in this world were seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Halloween and Christmas decorating for days, shopping and redecorating her house (including moving the furniture), watching horror movies and driving in her convertible with the top down on a hot summer day. She was definitely Elvis Presley's #1 Fan
She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Eva Smith, brothers Chuck, Richard and Robert (unknown), her first born infant son, her ex-husband of 34 years and the father of her children, Keith and her current husband's children, son Eddie and daughter Christine.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years Edward Candelmo, her children Michelle Martell Day and husband Jeff, Briand Martell and his significant other Angie and Cherie Martell Eastman and husband Tim. Grandchildren: Amanda, Danielle, Levi(Nick), Josh, Justin and Jonathan. Great-Grandchildren: Tiara, Jameson, Dawson, Jaylah, Briella and a new one on the way.
As well as, Ed's children Catherine and Philip Candelmo, grandchildren: Courtney, Nolan, Shawn, Hayley and Peyton and Great-Grandchildren: Arianna and Christopher.
At her request there will be no funeral, but rather a party in her honor on Sunday, September 27th at 3 PM at the Old Limerick Town Hall, Main St. Limerick, ME
Coleen's family extends a special thank you to her in-home caregivers and the staff at Maine Medical Center and Gosnell Hospice House.
