Obituary

William C. “Bill” Rigdon, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, September 11, 2026, at Ocilla Baptist Church in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Robert Couey officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, in Tifton, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the sanctuary on Friday.

Bill was born April 25, 1959, in Tifton, Georgia, to the late Thomas Loy & Mae Bell Mathis Rigdon. He was a 1977 graduate of Irwin County High School and earned an Associates degree in Business from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He owned and operated Rigdon Plumbing & Electrical for 40 years, continuing the business his father established in the mid-1960s. He was currently working as maintenance supervisor for the Vienna Housing Authority. He was an avid racer, with a particular passion for Ford models. He enjoyed working on cars, building them, and spending time racing them. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church.

He is survived by his companion, Kayla Lott of Fitzgerald; children: T.J. Rigdon & Lacie, Tara Rigdon Smith & Phillip, Brooke Lott Tank & Tripp, and Kason Lott & Casey; grandchildren: Cadence Rigdon, Lila Smith, Evy Smith, Declan Tank, Everett Tank, Wade Tank, Meredith Tank, Kinley Lott, Kelsey Lott, and Kelby Lott; a sister, Betty Rigdon McKey of Irwin County; a niece, Becky Shulhoffer; and a nephew, Richard “Ricky” Rigdon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy & Betty Rigdon; and a brother-in-law, Jack McKey.
