Obituary

WEBSTER - Murial L. (Desilets) Lariviere, 97, died Friday, September 4, 2026 in Lanessa Extended Care Facility after a period of declining health. Her husband of 43 years, Laurent Lariviere, died in 1993.

She leaves her companion and caregiver of over 30 years, Jeremiah “Jerry” DiDonato; a nephew, Larry Leclair of South Carolina and also Gerry DiDonato of Dudley; a Niece, Anne Marie of Connecticut and several cousins, including Sister Janine Blanchard of North Grosvenordale, CT. She was preceded in death by her brother Bernard Desilets.

She was born at home in North Grosvenordale, CT on May 27, 1929, the daughter of Frank and Flora (Blain) Desilets and graduated from Putnam Catholic Academy in 1946. She moved to Webster in 1996.

Muriel was clerk at her family’s store, Desilets Variety in North Grosvenordale, until 1966.

She was a member of Saint Joseph’s Church in North Grosvenordale. She loved cooking, baking, shopping, traveling and visiting the casino. She participated in several Poker runs on a Harley Davidson with her dear friend Jerry to sponsor charitable activities. Together they attended many car shows, particularly in Hershey, PA.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 12, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 12 Main Street, North Grosvenordale. Burial will be held privately. Visitation will be held Saturday in the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, prior to the Mass. Donations in her name may be made to St. Joseph Food Pantry, c/o St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, PO Box 665, Putnam, CT 06260-0665.
