Obituary


Michael J. Pitts, age 59, most recently of Taunton, a former longtime resident of Lakeville and Brockton, passed away unexpectedly, as the result of an accident, on Friday, September 4, 2026 in Dedham.

Born in Stoughton, MA June 16, 1967, he was a loving son of Douglas A., Sr. and Barbara J. (Cain) Pitts of Brockton.

Mike grew up in the City of Brockton and was a 1985 graduate of Brockton High School. At the time of his death, he was employed for over thirty-five years as a Second-Class Fireman at Brockton Hospital and had previously worked at the former Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Michael’s family was the essence and focal point of his life. He was an adoring and outstanding father who loved to attend and support all of his children’s sporting events. Other favorite family times included dining out, family vacations, road trips, visiting Santa’s Village in New Hampshire and the simple pleasure of listening to his daughter play the piano.

A member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Mike was an avid New England sports fan whose favorite team to cheer on was the Boston Celtics. His hobbies included listening to music, attending concerts, genealogy and passing on his mechanical skills to his children. Mike had a thirst for knowledge, enjoyed learning new things and recently became a licensed locksmith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his devoted children, Abigail G. Pitts of Lakeville, Matthew P. Pitts and his girlfriend Lauren LeBeau of Lakeville and Nicholas M. Pitts of Lakeville. He was the former husband of Tracy A. Pitts of Lakeville. He was the dear brother of the late Douglas A. Pitts, Jr. He was the cherished uncle of Lindsey Alfaro and her husband Louie of Brockton and Austin Pitts of Brockton. He is also survived by his loving aunts , uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 10th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 17 Main Street (Route 105, at the Middleborough Line) in Lakeville.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home in Lakeville. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Holbrook.
