Emma Ruth “Ruthie” Wood, 67, of Tifton passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2026 in the Chapel of Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Josh Bowles officiating. Ruthie will be laid to rest at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eldorado. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 7, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Stephen Wood, Joel Blanchett, Russ Wood, Greg Blanchett, Keith Ford and Spencer Mercer will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 5, 1959, in Tift County, Ruthie was the daughter of the late Carl Julian Wood, Sr. and Catherine Lucille Ball Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Mercer and two brothers, Carl Julian Wood, Jr. and the Reverend Edward Wood.
Ruthie had a heart full of love for everyone. She was friendly and never met a stranger. If she ever met you, she always remembered your name. She loved her Jesus, and she was a member of Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado.
Ruthie is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Rhonda Wood and Steve and Suzie Wood, all of Tifton and Julian and Barbara Wood of Enigma and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Paulette and Terrell Blanchett of Alapaha and Kathy Ford and Martha King, both of Tifton.
A special “thank you” is expressed to Steve and Suzie Wood for the special care they gave to Ruthie. The family would also like to express their thanks and appreciation to the employees of Diversified Enterprises.
