
Herbert “Herb” Klabunde

Herbert “Herb” Klabunde, 87, of Anderson passed away on September 3, 2026, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus following an extended illness.
He was born on October 3, 1938, in Essen, Germany to Gerhardt and Katharina (Jungkurth) Klabunde. At the age of eighteen, he came to the United States with three things to accomplish and that was a job, a house, and finding a wife. He accomplished all three things in just a few short years and got great satisfaction in that his goals were accomplished. He married his wife, Hyla, in 1959.
He served in the United States Armed Forces for three years in the Army Reserve and three years in the Air Force Reserves.
He worked as a lithographer at Warner Press, the Church of God publishing House in Anderson, Indiana. He later worked in the printing industry in Indianapolis, Huntington, Ft. Wayne, and Kokomo.
He was a member of Park Place Church of God and Truthfinders Sunday School Class. He was an avid gardener and took great delight in working in his yard and garden.
He is survived by his two sons, Kirk Klabunde of Fortville, and Tony (Courtney) Klabunde of Noblesville; four grandchildren, Cameron (Hannah) Klabunde, Cole Klabunde, Kian Klabunde, and Issa Klabunde; and three nephews, Robert Brackett, Helmut Krenz and Andreas Krenz.
He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Hyla Klabunde in 2017; and two sisters, Kathi Brackett and Edith Krenz.
Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Park Place Church of God with Dr. Jonathan Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday at the church.
