Marjorie (Minehan) Jenness, 67, of Mansfield died on Saturday September 23, 2006 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick P. Jenness who died on October 4, 1997.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston on November 11, 1938 she was a loving daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Armstrong) Minehan.
She was educated in Dorchester and was a graduate of St. Margaret’s School in Dorchester. She went on to graduate from the Boston City Hospital school of Nursing.
Upon graduation from nursing school Mrs. Jenness worked for several years at Boston City Hospital. In 1964 she enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as a nurse during the Vietnam War. She was honorably discharged in 1967 with the rank of Lt.J.G.N.C. Upon being discharged she returned to nursing and worked at Chapel Hill University in North Carolina. She then moved back to Massachusetts and worked at the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain for 12 years. Her final place of employment was at Medicare Medical Review in Quincy where she worked for 18 years before retiring in 2003.
A women of deep religious faith; she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and was an active volunteer at LaSallette Shrine in Attleboro for many years. Thru her affiliation with LaSallette Shrine Marge had traveled with church groups throughout the world. She had lived in Mansfield for the past 28 years and was formerly of Boston.
She was the devoted mother of Sean C. Jenness and his wife Emily of Roseland, New Jersey and the late Brion M. Jenness. She was the dear sister of Judith Jones of Dorchester, Barbara Fennell of Florida, Charles Minehan of Weymouth, Lawrence Minehan of Peabody, Rosemary Minehan-Maher of Duxbury and the late Lt. Stephen Minehan BFD. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter Mia S. Jenness as well as her many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday September 27th at 9:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St.(Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday September 26th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
