Tim O’Reilly, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, passed away on August 26, 2026 at the age of 78, surrounded by the love of his family.
“He was always there.” That is how those who knew Tim will remember him. He was always there for his family and his many friends, through good times and bad. Tim made friends wherever life took him, and he kept them — maintaining friendships from every stage of his life: high school, college, multiple corporate moves, and the neighborhoods he called home in the Boston area. Above all, he was always there for his wife Denise, and sons Devin and Trevor and their families including his five grandchildren – he was always a fixture at every sporting event, piano recital, and important moment in his grandkid’s lives.
Tim was born in 1948 in Kingston, New York, the youngest of seven children of William and Gertrude O’Reilly. He was a proud graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he was a three-sport varsity athlete and was recently inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Tim went on to graduate from Manhattan College, driving a school bus in New York City to fund his education — a testament to the work ethic and determination that would define his life. He later earned his law degree from New England School of Law and built a highly successful legal career, first in the public sector and later with the Carlyle and Goodrich corporations.
An avid sports fan, Tim was an especially dedicated — and often suffering — fan of the New York Football Giants, a loyalty he wore proudly through every triumph and heartbreak.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Denise O’Reilly; his son Trevor and his wife Brooke; his son Devin and his wife Leslie; and his five adored grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Troy, his extended family, and the countless friends whose lives he touched.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington Street, Wellesley, Massachusetts on Wednesday, September 2, at 11AM followed by a reception. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment private.
