Cynthia Mae Wells, 86, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, with her family by her side. She was born on November 5, 1939, in Brentwood, NH, a daughter of the late Irvin and Mildred (Harper) Kingsbury.
Cynthia Wells was the heart and matriarch of her family. Known for her warmth, humor, and unmistakable personality, she brought joy and laughter to those around her and made sure the people she loved knew just how much they meant to her.
Cynthia shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, George “Telly” Wells. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and music. They cherished watching their family grow through the generations and took great joy in creating a warm and welcoming home where family and friends could gather, make memories, and celebrate life together.
Cynthia was a hardworking and independent woman who spent most of her career at Derry Shoe. She took pride in working with her hands and loved staying busy, acquiring many skills throughout her life. She approached her work with a strong sense of independence and was known for her efficiency, but she also enjoyed having fun and sharing laughs with her work friends.
She shared an especially close bond with her daughters, Laurie and Angela, and her six grandchildren. They adored her, and she loved them deeply. Their years together were filled with laughter, stories, music, shopping trips, family gatherings, and countless memories they will always carry with them.
Cynthia enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: sunny days at the beach, the beauty of the mountains, relaxing beside the pool, shopping with her girls, and simply being together with family. Strong-willed, honest, funny, and unapologetically herself, Cynthia always spoke her mind and was loved for exactly who she was.
She is survived by her husband, George “Telly” Wells of Derry; daughters Laurie J. Wells and her husband, Jeffrey A. Young, of Colebrook, NH, and Angela B. Wells and her husband, Lincoln Leone, of Derry; six grandchildren: Rachel White and her husband, Trevor, of Derry, NH; Jaclyn Bergeron and her husband, Jeff, of Wolfeboro, NH; Chelsey Peters and her husband, Jason, of Derry, NH; Heather Breton and her partner, Parker Hansen, of Wolfeboro, NH; Raven Teixeira and her husband, Anthony, of Derry, NH; and Alec Leone and his wife, Katie, of Derry, NH. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren; siblings George Kingsbury, Sandra Boudreau, and Diane Bilodeau; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Monday, August 31st from 2 – 4pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
