WEBSTER - After a life well lived and deeply loved, William J. “Bill” Lefebvre, passed away peacefully on August 13th, 2026, at the age of 76.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen (Livernois) Lefebvre of Webster; his daughter, Emma Lefebvre of Northborough; and his beloved dog and best friend, Hercules.
Bill was born on November 15th, 1949, in Worcester, to Normand and Elizabeth “Betty” (Stochaj) Lefebvre. He attended Saint Joseph School in Webster, a school that remained an important part of his family’s life, where his daughter would later attend and his wife, Karen, remains a devoted educator. Bill graduated from Bartlett High School and went on to further his education at the New Hampshire College and Nichols College. He began his accounting career at American Optical in Putnam and Southbridge, where he met Karen, and later worked for Warner-Lambert in Morris Plains, NJ.
Bill was a founding member of the Webster Ambulance Squad (now Webster EMS), a member of the Budd Lake (NJ) Rescue Department. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, serving as a Faithful Navigator of the Walter J. Barrett Assembly in Boonton, NJ, and a founder St. Joseph Basilica Council 12980 in Webster serving as the first Grand Knight. Bill was also a member of the Webster Lodge of Elks and the Auburn Lodge of Elks.
Bill had a knack for making people laugh and always seemed to have a one-liner ready for any situation. If someone announced, “I’m going to run to the store,” Bill’s inevitable response was, “Why don’t you take the car? It’ll be much faster.” His quick wit and playful sense of humor never left him. Even during his final hospitalizations, Bill continued to joke with family, friends, and caregivers, bringing smiles to those around him.
Bill loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He often shared stories of his trips to Moosehead Lake in Maine and, in later years, the many hours he spent fishing on Webster Lake. He also took great pride in his garden, and family and friends were often the lucky recipients of an abundance of tomatoes and cucumbers each summer. He also enjoyed woodworking.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Matulaitis Rehabilitation & Skilled Care for the dignity, kindness, and compassion they showed Bill during his final days. Their exceptional care, comfort, and support brought great peace to Bill and his family during a difficult time and will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 20, from the Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19, in the funeral home.
