Remembering Barbara Bigler: 90 Years of a Wonderful Life
We honor the life of Barbara Bigler, a special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and friend who lived ninety full and independent years. To know Barbara was to know her passions.
Spending time with family was the most important thing in her life. She deeply loved her two sisters and brother, her four children, son-in-law and all of their families. She loved visits from her six grandchildren and 2 great-grand-daughters and enjoyed engaging with the unique qualities she discovered in each of them. Her quirky sense of humor always kept them laughing.
Her home was filled with classical music from her two cherished grand pianos, which she played beautifully her entire lifetime. She also loved being outside. She stayed active with daily walks along the Cape Cod Rail Trail and spent long hours in her garden, which was filled with colorful trees, plants, and daylilies.
Barbara showed her love through the things she made for others. She hand-stitched over one hundred colorful quilts and gave most away to people she cared about. Visitors to her house could always count on delicious baked goods waiting for them. Every Christmas, she made dozens of types of holiday treats, including her famous fudge—a recipe that remains a closely guarded family secret.
More than anything, she gave us an example of how to live life fully on her own terms, surrounded by family, laughter, and love. May she rest in peace.
A family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in the name of Barbara Bigler to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or online at CareDimensions.org/Donate
