STANDISH- Michael "Sonny" Goan, age 87, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 29, 2026.
He was born in Westbrook, Maine on May 6, 1939, a son of the late John and Irene Goan.
After graduating from Westbrook High School in 1957, Sonny went on to attend Southern Maine Technical College, graduating in 1965.
Sonny proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He was a Master Electrician and owned his own electrical contracting business for over 50 years, building a reputation for quality, hard work and reliability.
Sonny was friendly, easy going, and well liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren, and his many friends. He also enjoyed traveling, skiing, going to the gym, swimming in his pool, whistling, telling jokes, and reading.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lois Goan; his two sons, Ryan Goan and his wife, Susan, of Standish, and Regan Goan and his wife, Brandie, of Raymond; his four grandchildren, Avery, Emerson, Clare, and Eamon; his two step-grandchildren, Jaydie and Garrett; his brother, Richard Goan and his wife, Gladys, of Westbrook; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Walsh of Standish.
In lieu of a memorial service, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
