Jerome D. Curreri “Jerry” passed away in the company of his loving family on Thursday, August 6th at the Emerson Hospital. He was 79. Jerry was raised in Boston’s North End, the son of the late James and Mary (Tello) Curreri. He graduated from St. John’s school, Medford Vocational Technical High School and went on to study at Boston Architectural School.
Jerry was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Jerry lived in Winchester for many years. He enjoyed a long and fruitful career as a draftsman. He began his career as a civilian employee with the United States Coast Guard. He had the privilege to work on many projects from the northern coast of Maine to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, repairing, preserving, and renovating Coast Guard facilities and historic lighthouses. After he retired from his service with the Coast Guard, he went on to work with the Medford and later the Boston Housing Authorities. His efforts ensured safe and up to date housing opportunities for those in need.
Jerry was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and shooting. He was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club. His skills as a draftsman were put to good use with his life-long hobby of restoring Corvettes. For nearly all of his adult life, Jerry restored vintage Chevy Corvettes, even rebuilding one from the chassis up. He shared that passion and tenacity with his grandson, Morgan, who also has a corvette of his own in progress.
The beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Sarno) Curreri, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage, Jerry leaves his devoted daughter Adina Fuller and her husband Daniel. Jerry was a loving grandfather to Morgan Fuller. He leaves his dear brother Joseph and his wife Jill, as well as his niece and nephews: Jessica and her husband Liam, Joseph, Jr. and his wife Carrie, and RJ and his girlfriend Ali. Jerry leaves his sisters-in-law Jennie Tricomi and Santa Sarno. Jerry is also lovingly survived by his extended family in Gloucester.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at St. Stephen Church, 401 Hanover St. in Boston’s North End on Wednesday, August 19th from 10 – 11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester.
