Robert A. "Bob" Bowers, 63, of Tewksbury, died peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital, with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Cambridge on September 2, 1962, he was the son of the late William C. Bowers and the late Janice (Lane) Bowers. Bob grew up in Tewksbury, and though his family lived briefly in Salem, New Hampshire, where he graduated from high school, Tewksbury was home for nearly all of his life.
Some of his happiest early memories were made at Wyman's Beach in Westford, where he spent his boyhood summers. It was there, one summer, that he first met the young woman who would become his wife. He and Gayle P. (Doucette) Bowers were married on October 18, 1987, and shared 38 years of marriage.
Bob was a devoted sports fan, and no team held his loyalty quite like the New England Patriots. He was a season ticket holder for over 30 years and looked forward to every fall Sunday spent cheering them on. He was an athlete himself in his younger days, wrestling for his high school team, and there was hardly a sport or an outdoor pastime he did not enjoy at one time or another.
He had a deep love of history, particularly American history, and he traveled to historic sites all across the country so that he could stand in the places he had read so much about. Just as often, the journey itself was the point. Bob loved his Harley-Davidson and the freedom of an open road, and riding remained one of his greatest pleasures.
Professionally, Bob spent several years as a truck driver for Anheuser-Busch before building his career in operations management at several companies, most recently S.J. Services in Danvers.
Besides his beloved wife Gayle, Bob is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Bowers and her husband James Petipas of Port Jefferson, New York, and Kelly Bowers of Dracut. He is also survived by his siblings, Janice Price of Methuen and Sean Bowers and his wife Sandy of Lowell; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Anne Bowers of Dracut, Susan Bowers of Melrose, Peter Doucette and his wife Shirley of Reading, Laurie Sylvia and her husband Terry of Wakefield, New Hampshire, and Paul Doucette and his wife Kristin of Reading, Massachusetts; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was the brother of the late William C. Bowers, Jr. and the late Alan Bowers, and the brother-in-law of the late Carol Seaward and her late husband, Harold Seaward.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a service of remembrance on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
