Michael J. Casey, 75, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 3, 2026. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Mary (Carey) and John Casey. He was the husband of Kathleen Casey with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.
Michael retired from IBM after 30 years, where he built a long and successful career. When he was three years old, his family moved from Brooklyn to Mahopac, New York, where he lived until he and Kathleen relocated to Franklin to be near to his daughter, Megan and her family. During the summers, Michael, his brother, Jack and his parents, enjoyed family vacations every summer at the Elm Rest in Oak Hill, NY, until the passing of their dad, John, in 1969. Michael enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching sports, and keeping his mind sharp with Wordle and other word games and puzzles. He appreciated the simple things in life and loved sharing those interests with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his daughter, Megan Lancey and her husband, Colin. He also leaves behind his grandson, Connor Lancey; his brother, Jack Casey and his wife, Kathy; his nieces, Cory and Lisa Casey; 2 brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and his lifelong best friend and golf partner, Roger Young, who he met in first grade. He is predeceased by his parents, and his aunt, Catherine Carey.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 17th at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary’s Church in Wrentham, 130 South St.
Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin, 175 Beaver Street.
