Obituary

Brown, Carol Milici passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on August 6, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Carol was born and raised in Hamden, Connecticut, where she graduated from Hamden High School. She went on to attend the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1963. It was there that she met the love of her life, Merritt Brown.

Carol later earned a master’s degree in Special Education from Framingham State University. After years working in education she eventually followed her creative passion into interior decorating through her business Carol Brown Designs. She had a natural eye for beauty and an ability to make a house feel like a home.

A lifelong New Englander, Carol made the bold decision in 2020 to escape the cold winters and move to Arizona near her daughter.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Merritt Brown; her daughter, Cara Rogers; her son-in-law, Allan Rogers and her daughter-in-law Monique Brown.

She leaves behind her children, Jay Brown and his fiancée, Kim Mooney; Pamela Nardell and her husband, Carl Nardell; and Carl Brown and his wife, Elizabeth Brown. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Carolyn, Katherine, Dani, Phoebe and Oscar, as well as her extended family and many dear friends who will miss her dearly.

Carol will be remembered for her strong spirit, her generous heart, her creativity, her love of music and cooking, and most of all the love she had for her family. She created a lifetime of memories through the meals she made, the music she played, the homes she created, the stories she told, and the laughter she shared.

Carol was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.

A graveside service will be held for Carol at Highland Cemetery, 54 Centre St. Dover, MA on Saturday, August 15, at 9am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A celebration of life gathering will follow at Fireside Tavern, 33 N. Main St. Sherborn.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Carol’s memory to support the Allan B. Rogers and Cara J. Rogers Endowed Chair to Advance Bone Marrow Transplant Research. Checks may be made out to Massachusetts General Brigham, c/o MGB Development Office, 399 Revolution Drive, Suite 1330, Somerville, MA 02145 with “In Memory of Carol Brown” written in the memo.
