Connie, as she is known by her family and friends, died from a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She had many battles in life starting from birth. At birth she was a “blue baby”, with the umbilical cord tightly wrapped around her neck, so much so that she was given her last rights and told if she survived, she would not be able to walk. Not only did she walk but she lived another almost 98 years.
Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Connie worked at R. H. White department store in Boston MA, where she was actively promoted to become a fashion buyer. Instead, she chose a different career path, that of a full-time mother. In her early years as a full-time mother she enjoyed designing and making clothes, everything from a dress to a three-piece suit and clothes for her children. Her great interest in fashion continued over her entire life, even close to the end when a nice design would still catch her eye and affirming smile!
Connie, along with her husband, Joe, built the house she would live in for the next 75 years. They built the house themselves, from the foundation up, with enormous will and determination. It was in this house she raised two sons, Stephen who later became a physician at Massachusetts General Brigham Hospital and Cliff who was a civil engineer at the Federal Aviation Administration.
When asked by the local school principal, who recognized her intelligence and motivation to help others, she started and built the library in the New Nabnasset School in Westford where she was the librarian for many years. This was a perfect fit for her as she was an avid reader and loved children.
She was extremely compassionate and understanding. She accepted everyone for who they were and only saw the positive in people no matter their attitude or actions.
Connie did a considerable amount of travel, but what she enjoyed the most was being a mother, loving and caring for her family. Her unwavering devotion, support and dedication to her family are just a few reasons why she is “The Best Mother on the Planet”.
Family and friends will gather at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday August 13, 2026 at 1:30 PM to celebrate Connie's life.
