Kathryn Patricia Ann (Marino) Dunn, 80, of Londonderry, NH, died peacefully on July 30, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 4, 1946, in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Anthony and Ellen (Galvin) Marino.
From the beginning, Kathryn was caring, independent, loyal, and capable, qualities that made her a natural role model for her three younger siblings and a steady presence throughout her life.
Kathryn built a life rooted in family, faith, and community. She married Walter P. Dunn Jr. in Massachusetts, where they began their life together before later making their home in Derry, NH, and raising their four children. When her children were young, Kathryn was active in church and school life, teaching Sunday school and serving on the PTA. She was happiest when her whole family was together.
Kathryn graduated from the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing and went on to a long and fulfilling career in healthcare. She spent many years as a critical care nurse at Alexander Eastman Hospital, Parkland Medical Center, and Nashua Memorial Hospital. She later moved into hospital administration and then brought her nursing expertise to workers’ compensation claims, first at Liberty Mutual and then at Travelers Insurance, where she retired.
In her free time, Kathryn loved gardening and caring for her many indoor plants. In more recent years, she treasured simple joys: a breezy day with the sliding door open, doing Wordle, and playing cards and board games with family.
For the past six years, Kathryn lived in Londonderry. Drawn to the community and activities for seniors, she joined a book club, attended St. Jude Parish, and volunteered.
Kathryn is survived by her children: Christina (Jonathan) of Lexington, MA; Walter (Mary) of Cumberland, RI; Patricia (Todd) of St. Louis Park, MN; and Matthew of Londonderry, NH. She is also survived by her grandchildren who she adored: Caroline, Torrin, Michael, Avery, Mackayla, Riayn, Noah, Christopher, Hudson, and Tripp; and by her sister, Marilyn Marino, of Tucson, AZ. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter P. Dunn Jr.; her parents, Anthony and Ellen Marino; her brother, Anthony Marino Jr.; and her sister, Susan.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude Parish in Londonderry, NH, followed by burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen, MA. Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium of Derry, NH is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Caregivers of Greater Derry. The family also wishes to thank Kathryn’s caregivers at Home Health & Hospice Care for their compassion, kindness, and support over the past eight months.
In both her busiest years and her hardest ones, Kathryn will be remembered for putting others first, and for the way she made people feel loved.
