Steven Marcaccio, Jr, 46, died Tuesday August 4th. He was the devoted husband of Jessica (Fiore) Marcaccio. They had been married for 17 years.
Born in Providence, Steven was a son of Steven and Patricia ( Bert ) Marcaccio, Sr. of Smithfield. Steven had attended Smithfield High School, class of 1997 and graduated from CCRI in 2000. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator at RI Resource Recovery.
The one thing he loved more than anything was his wife and children. Steven was the best dad, and he did everything for his children. Steven arranged trips to Disney every year, sometimes even twice a year. He couldn’t wait for their family vacations. Steven was famous for saying two things: “Spend your money, they print it every day!” and “Memories don’t make themselves!”
Steven would drop anything to help anyone. His smile would light up a room. He was apologetically himself. He would often say what everyone else was thinking without a care in the world. He always knew how to lighten the mood and crack a joke to put everyone at ease.
He coached many years of softball and hockey. If you were a resident of Smithfield, you would have certainly heard that booming voice from a sideline, or a bleacher, or a dugout, encouraging every player to go out there and play their best. And if it were his own children, you’d hear him calling “Fore Check!” and “Keep your head on it!” and “Watch the ball hit the bat!”
Besides his wife and parents, Steven is survived by his children, Gia and Brock Marcaccio of Smithfield, and his sister, Donna Marcaccio of Greenville. He also leaves a large extended family. He was the maternal grandson of the late Francis and Norma (Coda) Bert and paternal grandson of the late Vito and Rose ( Zanni ) Marcaccio, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday August 11th at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI. Please go directly to church on Tuesday. Burial will be private. A celebration of Steven’s life will be held in the Anderson-Winfield Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, on Monday August 10th beginning at 4pm and we will celebrate with stories of friendship until 7pm.
During Steven’s celebration of life and funeral mass, we ask that you please wear bright and cheerful colors. This will not be a traditional visitation. Instead, we invite family and friends to come together to celebrate Steven’s life by sharing stories, memories, and the moments that made him so special. The Marcaccio family kindly ask that as you listen to Jimmy Buffet and those that choose to speak, you remember Steven’s infectious smile, his laughter, and the joy that he brought to so many. We hope this time together brings comfort, connection, and a beautiful celebration of life that will never be forgotten.
