
David R. Butler, age 75, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Boston Medical Center-Brighton. He was the beloved husband of the late Susan E. (Darrah) Butler, to whom he was wed for fifty-two years at the time of her death on September 21, 2025.
Born in Weymouth, MA on August 17, 1950, he was a loving son of the late Charles Butler and Margaret (Follansbee) Malone.
David grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston. He later moved to Mansfield and was a 1968 graduate of Mansfield High School. An auto mechanic by trade, he had also been employed at the former Mansfield Chocolate Factory. Most recently, he very-much enjoyed working as an auto delivery person for Fisher Auto Parts in Mansfield and with his fellow employees.
A resident of Mansfield for over sixty years, David was a longtime member of the Randolph Lodge of Elks. He loved being in the presence of his adoring family, especially with the grandchildren. His other interests included watching sports and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his devoted children, David R. Butler and his wife Tabatha Barrett of Mansfield, Michael J. Butler and his wife Carrie of Fairhaven, Lisa S. Butler and her longtime partner Mark Pelletier of Mansfield, Charlie D. Butler and his wife Liz of Norton and Stephen J. Butler of New York. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael, Ava, Alexa, Evelyn, Jordyn, Knight and Aziza. He was the dear brother of the late Charles Butler and Janet Butler. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
