Michael Joseph Regis, 71, of Dracut, died on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, following a long and courageous battle with cancer and cirrhosis.
He was born in Lowell on December 9, 1954, the son of the late George J. Regis and the late Jennette C. (Lalime) Regis, both of Lowell. Michael was raised and educated in Lowell's Acre neighborhood, where he attended St. Joseph Parochial School before graduating from Lowell Trade School in the 1970s.
Not long after finishing school, Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served ten years during peacetime before receiving a medical and honorable discharge, and he carried the skills he learned in the service into a long career as an electronics technician.
Michael was a friend of Bill W. and a member of The Bridge Club of Lowell, where he found fellowship and gave it back freely to others walking the same road. He had a lifelong curiosity for anything he could build, take apart, or make better. He loved flying drones, photography, building and operating computers, and video editing.
Above all else, Michael loved his family. He loved spending Thanksgivings at Chrissy and Ernie Lopez's. He was the one who showed up, and he was there for anyone who needed him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always joking or pulling a good natured prank. Warm, welcoming, and generous, he had a true heart of gold, and those who loved him will miss his laugh most of all.
He is survived by his former wife of over eleven years and the mother of his children, Melba (Guianan) Morante of Lowell; his sons, Mark Regis and his wife Tara of Dracut, and Matthew Regis of Dracut; his grandchildren, Kyle S. Regis, Myrin J. Regis, Anthony Sargentelli, Gina Sargentelli, Chloe Sargentelli, and Giovanny Sirett, all of Dracut; his siblings, Anita Hill of Methuen, Louise Gagnon of Londonderry, NH, Claire Wirtenen of Lowell, George Regis of Lowell, and Roger Regis and his wife, Joanne, of Billerica; and his dear friends, Joe Campbell of Dracut, his friends Lou, Big Dan, his drone companion Will, and his longtime friend Jimmy his wife Meridith. He was also uncle monkey to Anthony, Teia, Farrah, and his god daughter Faith.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
His funeral will begin on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. All Saints' Episcopal Church, 10 Billerica Rd, Chelmsford, MA 01824. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Road, Chelmsford.
