
Margaret Ann Brooks Harper, 83, of Tifton passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation in Adel. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Ike Branch officiating. Mrs. Harper will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Dion Hale, Clay Connell, Andrew Hale, Hunter Shaw, Kagan Belk and Keith Belk will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Harper, Danny Brooks and Kenny Jones.
Born November 25, 1942, in Cook County, Mrs. Harper was the daughter of the late Benjamin Bert Brooks and Josie Willamae Hobby Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Kendall Harper, who passed away on May 12, 2023; one daughter, Deborah Shaw; a son-in-law, Alvin Hale; and her siblings, Randy Brooks, Leroy Brown, Huey Sandifer, Rudolph Sandifer and Mary Horne. Before retiring, she was a floral designer and owned Turner County Florist.
Mrs. Harper was very involved in the community and volunteered in Special Olympics and she was a Girl Scout Leader. She played ladies softball and enjoyed fishing, sewing and cooking. She was a member of Tifton’s First Church of the Nazarene.
Left behind to cherish Mrs. Harper’s memory are two daughters and one son-in-law, Rhonda Hale, and Mary Margaret and Franco Ortiz, all of Tifton; a son-in-law, James Shaw of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Lindy Brooks of Jacksonville, Florida; one half-sister, Kristen Norton of Alabama; three grandchildren, Suzanne Shaw Belk and her husband Keith, Hunter Shaw, and Andrew Hale and his wife Dani; three great-grandchildren, Kagan Belk, KendallAnn Belk and Isla Harper Hale; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special care-giver, Diane Blanchard.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Southwell Health and Rehabilitation in Adel for their wonderful care of Mrs. Harper.
